Boko Haram violence displaced over 2.5m people

NEW YORK, Nov. 17 (MNA) – The violence unleashed by the Boko Haram fundamentalist militia displaced more than 2.5 million people in Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad and Niger, warned the UN Regional Humanitarian Coordinator for the Sahel, Toby Lanzer.

According to the expert, also terrorist operations have led many humans to leave their homes in the region.

Boko Haram in 2014 intensified their mass killings and kidnappings, which spread from northern Nigeria to other states of the Lake Chad.

According to Lanzer, extremists are also responsible for the destruction of 1,000 schools in the African region.

Regarding the humanitarian situation in the Sahel, he informed that food insecurity is afflicting 25 million people, a fifth of them severely affected. He also lamented that every year 700,000 children die from malnutrition.

The actions of Boko Haram complicates the already prevailing adverse situation, he said in a statement.
